has been at the forefront of DNA profiling techniques
and innovations. As a major division of Commonwealth Biotechnologies, Inc. (CBI), the largest facility of its kind in
the world, Fairfax Identity Laboratories shares 100,000
square feet of laboratory and clinical space and provides

the United States and the world. Fairfax Identity Laboratories
successfully evaluates approximately 50,000 samples each
year. Our unique affiliation with CBI offers our clients
an additional benefit of over a decade of experience
in providing the latest in innovative genetic services
including one of the world's largest programs in prenatal
diagnostics. Our Institute's prenatal diagnostics experience
allows us to routinely and accurately identify and separate
fetal tissue from maternal tissue in prenatal samples
and products of conception.
Highly Informative Testing
Fairfax Identity Laboratories' rigorous
standards guarantee the credible evidence our clients
demand. Following strict chain of custody procedures,
Fairfax Identity Laboratories uses a minimum of five
highly polymorphic VNTR loci to analyze forensic cases
providing an exclusion on a minimum paternity index of
10,000 and a probability of paternity of 99.9% or greater.
Polymerase Chain Reaction based dot blot (HLA DQA1 and
polymarker) and long tandem repeat (LTR) and short tandem
repeat (STR) techniques can also be performed on small
or degraded samples. Forensic paternity evaluation reports
are admissible in courts of law and may be accompanied
by our expert witness service.
