Personal
DNA Profiles
FAIRFAX IDENTITY LABORATORIES’ CID PROVIDES PERSONAL DNA PROFILING.
In an age when personal safety is no longer a sure thing, tragedy can strike at any time. To aid in providing some measure of closure when that happens, Fairfax Identity Laboratories (FIL) announces the availability of its personal DNA profiling service.
Called CID, for Confidential
IDentity, this service can provide clients with a DNA profile
sufficient to serve as the basis of identification in case
of a tragedy. Working from an easily obtained swab of the
inside of the cheek, FIL can determine the nature of the
genetic markers commonly used to identify, with virtual certainty,
the donor of that DNA sample. The markers are informative
only for the establishment of identification; they convey
no information that can be misused medically or for any other
purpose.
CID profiles can be provided
to you, printed on a certificate that you can store securely
yourself, or the profile can be retained by the laboratory
in a secure computer database, inaccessible to anyone but
select members of our lab staff.
Identification of loved ones after a tragedy depends on having available a
reference sample or genetic profile. That is something that
is sometimes difficult to obtain after the fact.
CID represents a kind
of planning ahead that may be uncomfortable to think about,
but one which your loved ones will appreciate should it
become necessary to provide closure after a loss. This service
is intended for those in the military or other high risk
professions, or for small children or adults under assisted
care. To purchase your CID personal profiling kit call 1-800-482-3025.
